Trout ranging in size from 8 to 24 inches are purchased thanks to the support of our generous contributors. Getting the trout to Doylestown’s Borough Dam is only half the battle. It takes a community of students from area schools, as well as home-schooled and cyber-charter school students along with a cast of supporting players to get the trout from the trucks into the pond. For many this is just as much fun as opening day! Carrying buckets of trout to the pond is a joyful labor for kids and adults alike Kids take great delight in depositing their trout in the pond to await opening day. The wait in line for buckets of trout becomes a fun, social and educational experience. Students eagerly await turns to carry buckets of trout from the truck to the pond. Trout are carefully netted and placed in buckets for students to take to the pond. Recycled buckets are used by youth to transport the trout from the truck to the pond.
