2021 Youth Fishing Program at the Borough Dam in Chapman Park
On behalf of Doylestown Borough, The Friends of the Borough Dam, and the Doylestown Rotary, we are sorry to have to inform you that our Youth Fishing Program, including Opening Day and the Senior/Handicapped Fishing Derbies, will once again have to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. When we took the step last year, we told you that we would be back, better than ever. That is still our pledge to you, but, unfortunately, we will have to wait another year. Be assured that the program is still alive and both it and the pond itself are being actively managed. Although we can’t get together as usual, we are planning to stock the pond with large mouth bass, bluegills, minnows for forage, and a small number of trout. Children, seniors, and the handicapped will still be welcome to fish, along with any adult chaperones. We also hope to use the time to make some needed physical improvements to the pond and surrounding area including fish habitat structures, improved signage, and replacement landscaping. Your generosity continues to make this possible. Although it is not the season we would prefer, our goal is to provide fishing in 2021 as a much needed outdoor activity for the community.
